It's been 2 months since i pointed the camera at anything Motorsport related, so on Sunday i made the 200 mile journey to Silverstone.
Now, it's not the track i'd normally choose to re-ignite my rapidly dwindling interest in Motorsports, but it seem to have done the trick. Even though i had to leave early it was a superb event that i thoroughly enjoyed!!
Anyway, enough of my pointless drivel, on with the show..
1. And they're off!. Alan McNish (Audi R15 TDi) leads Anthony Davidson (Peugeot 908 HDi) on the charge towards Copse Corner..
2. The filed charges into Copse. Sadly for McNish his race only lasted just over 30 minutes when he lost drive completely..
3. My favourite car from the GT2 class..
4. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the early laps, although as i've mentioned already the #7 Audi didn't last very long..
5. The Beachdean-Mansell Ginetta-Zytek (what a mouthfull!). Yes, that Mansell, although Nigel was prevented from driving by the injuries he sustained in a crash at Le Mans in June.
Driving duties on the day were left to his sons, Greg & Leo.
6. Not the biggest car in the field but one of the best sounding GT2s. Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
7. The eventual race winner, Peugeot 908 HDi driven by Anthony Davidson & Nicolas Minassian. Even though Allan McNish led the early laps for Audi, Davidson and the Peugeot were visibly faster...
8. Anyone who was there will remember the sound of the Lola-Aston Martins. A fantastic soundtrack and Gulf livery - Motorsport at its best!
All the above were taken with the 7D & Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX (Because it's Silverstone). EXIF is intact for the voyeurs amongst you!

. To be honest it's not that bad a drive. Oulton Park is much closer but there's only 30-45 minutes difference in journey time...Motorways make life too easy.
