You can goolgle "how to remove light pollution". You can remove it in post processing. It will give you darker skies in your photos...

Cameras - Canon 350D, 5D
Lenses - Canon 18-55mm, 75-300mm, 50mm f/1.8, 24-105L, 24-70L
Flashes - Yongnuo YN460 II, YN468
RF-602 transmitter and 2 receivers

Looks to me like they're heavily over-exposed. That looks like what I got around Jupiter when shooting at multi-second exposures.

I did a bit of editing to remove the light pollution and the noise a bit. How does this look?

Excellent photo, I do like these widefield shots as they're great to help identify or find deep space objects. I know there are a lot of them around Cassiopeia.

In the second shot you appear to have cut out the Double Cluster, but I'm looking towards the top right to see if you got M52, (I think that's the one I'm thinking of anyway), but perhaps you just missed it.

Yeah, the edges got a bit wonky when I removed the light pollution. I'm going to try again tonight if it's clear.

That's a great wide scape of stars, I need to learn where everything is up there. If possible.

I've seen this problem when using DSS if I set the luminance curve wrong. Look at the high side of the curve and make sure you can see *all* of the curve. If the curve disappears off the top of the graph because of a sharp angle then play with the 'high' angle to bring the curve back within the visible graph. Something goes wrong in DSS when the curve is too high.

Took a quick crack at it using Carboni's astro tools in CS5. I highly recommend these tools if you want to get into astrophotography at all. This was 2 minutes work at max.
