Want to know if you actually print, matt, frame, and hang your work on your walls, or the walls of friends ? OR do you just show them on your computer/TV and hardly if ever make prints? And I guess, how many do both ? (talking us amatuers only, no PROs need answer)

I have printed many of my works, many different sizes, and have them hanging throughout my house, and even on the walls of my office at work. I also frame my own work in my woodshop in the basement.

This is not because I think so highly of myself, but because each new varriation of print (normally on canvas) and frame is an experiment so I can get the perspective of how my work looks best, what types of frames best accent my work, all with an eye toward the future when I may decide to stick my toe in the "pro" water . . .

I have a few from the 'best of' from my travels to different countries around the world. They make for good conversation pieces and even more so when people find out I took them. I do find myself daydreaming though when sitting looking at the one over the mantel that I took just south of Queenstown, NZ...really makes me want to go back, right now.

I have several of my photographs hanging in my home. I like to try different ideas and have framed prints, gallery wraps and metal prints on the walls.

I have photos hanging in several parts of the house. Recently, I've been ceding the prime locations to my son's work, as a way of encouraging him to develop his skills.

I've got a few hanging around my apartment, my parent's house, and other relative's houses. It's just so cool to see your own work on the wall of your own place, let alone someone else's (especially when you hear people ask where they bought the picture!).

My office has lots of my prints. :D Some of my images hang on my walls at home too. And then of course family have some in the form of prints to hang, photo books and coffee mugs. It is a hotly requested Christmas item in my family!

Then I also scrapbook in which I use my images.

I am still an amateur at landscapes/nature....so that should qualify me to answer. LOL I have several frames that I need to get prints for and I have sold several images that now hang on other people's walls. I'm waiting for a larger portfolio to display more. I have a buddy that owns a coffee shop right down town who said I can hang prints any time I want. I also know a couple other coffee shops I can do the same. Once I get a larger portfolio, and a site set up, I plan to print, frame and display some images to see how it goes. I'm not expecting much, but I should be able to get people to go to the site to see what I have. I shot a house a few months ago where the owner does all her own framing and matting herself. She has the whole set up. I'm hoping to have her help me with the framing and matting for the best presentation possible.

With that said, I know a guy here in my town that makes a very good living shooting landscapes/nature and he does most of his sales via his site. He has images displayed in a few places around town and his business card is there to drive customers to his site. He told me that he hasn't 'needed' to work in over five years. His online sales pay all his bills and then some. Now, he just travels around shooting whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He said it took a few years before he got to the point where the online sales were making him good money. But, he has no overhead from a gallery or anything like that.

I am a total amateur but I have about 30 5x7 of my work. I keep one print from just about every shoot I do if the person allows it just so I can have something to show. Then I have a few of my works at my grandparents house. and 3 in my house hanging.

If you are printing to sell, use a true print shop. The prints will not be the same quality as a true print shop. Now, if you are just printing one for personal use....it should be ok.

No pro here, but I do make prints. Looking at it from computer isn't the same for me. ocassionally, before going to bed, I like to flip through my album of images I've made.

I've spent quite a few $$$ in getting prints either in album or framed. The largest photo I've printed as a 24"x36" canvas that's hanging above my bed.

I keep filling up wall space and giving away prints to friends and family. I also have 8-10 books of prints also. Bought my own matt cutter and do all my own matting and framing. Have an Epson 2400 for color right now and am thinking of upgrading to an Epson 3880 to make larger prints, and to use the new inks. I also have an older 2200 that I am converting to B&W prints. I am much happier doing my own printing.

I have exactly one of my images printed, 16x20, hanging in my house. It was, ironically, taken the first year I got into this hobby. I haven't found one yet that is worthy of replacing it or hanging beside it.
