AF: Depends what I'm shooting, moving or static subjects. NEVER "AI Focus"
Metering: Usually Ev
WB: Always RAW, so I just leave it at AWB and worry about it later, occasionally shooting a grey/white card on site, to help in post.
P.I.C.: Disabled:
CS: sRGB, I know enough about color-space to know, if you don't know exactly why you want Adobe RGB, don't use it.
PS: RAW again, doesn't matter, so its probably in Standard.
HTP: Disabled. I use ISO 100 a lot, and this function serves no real purpose in RAW, best to just watch your blinkies, and understand exposure.
ALO: Disabled, also serves no real purpose for a RAW shooter, and can mislead you on the LCD preview and histogram, because thats generated from the imbedded JPG.(same issue with HTP).

It really depends but I shoot raw so most of the processing features I keep disabled.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Thanks for the replies. Please keep them coming.

I guess the Metering is the one that interests me most. I have been using Evaulative for the longest time, but I might try using Center-Weight. Average for a while.

Some of these settings have no effect on RAW images unless processed with DPP (other converters such as ACR or DXO won't see them at all when converting RAW files). Functions such as picture styles and auto lighting optimizer are jpg adjustments or for RAW and DPP conversion software (even then it's still an optional adjustment). However the settings will effect the view in the camera LCD viewing screen even shooting RAW.

Many of these I change as needed such as the metering and AF functions.

Normal Functions:

AF: Manual for portraits/landscape, AI Servo for live/street/etc

Metering: Evaluative

WB: AWB for non-flash. just started using a flash, so I'm not yet set into a 'system' for with-flash WB.

Peripheral Illumination Correct: Disable?

Color Space: Adobe RGB

Picture style: Faithful

Custom Functions:

II.3: Highlight tone priority: Disabled

II.4: Auto Lighting Optimizer: Disabled

I shoot in AV with a heavy dose of exposure compensation.

I disable everything I can that allows the camera to make a decision that I could later make in Aperture. I just prefer the control.

Normal Functions:
AF: One Shot if it doesn't move. AI Servo when it does, which is almost all the time, inlcuding portrait.

Metering: Evaluative becuase I have gotten to know it really well.
WB: AWB
Peripheral Illumination Correct: Disable
Color Space: sRGB (I shoot RAW, it doesn't matter)
Picture style: Neutral/Faithful since it's more accurate than the other ones when it comes to showing the blinkies/histogram

Custom Functions:
II.3: Highlight tone priority: Disabled
II.4: Auto Lighting Optimizer: Disabled

Normal Functions:
AF: One Shot usually, unless tracking a moving subject, then AI Servo
Metering: Spot, but I shoot in Manual mode all the time. Spot would not be good for semi-auto modes
WB: Depends.
Peripheral Illumination Correct: Disable
Color Space: sRGB
Picture style: Standard

Custom Functions:
II.3: Highlight tone priority: Disabled
II.4: Auto Lighting Optimizer: Disabled

I shoot in RAW 100% of the time, so the HTP, ALO, and Picture Styles don't really help me so I leave them off.

I'm surprised to see so many with ALO turned on... It doesn't make any difference for RAW, and makes the histogram less accurate... right?

Perhaps those using ALO are not RAW shooters?

Kinda depends on what your shooting. Every setting is a tool for a specific job.

No offense but maybe learning a bit more about photography in general would be a better answer for your question. Anyone with a basic education on photography would understand the uses for each of those settings. That being said, some interesting responses to say the least.....lol
