I can't imagine doing manual focus without Live View; the ability to zoom way in on a spot in Live View and dial in a perfect focus is a fantastic feature. I even like to go with manual focus on my AF-capable lenses using Live View, if I'm on a tripod. David | Flickr

I have become better at using it hand held as well. Landscapes and tripod mounted shots of stationary objects are the obvious cases, but I have used it very successfully shooting at night, shooting family portraits or group shots, anything macro, and even wildlife. The ability to zoom in 10x and nail that focus is a huge advantage in focusing. The autofocus is good but never perfect. Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Live View has been my savior these past several weeks.

Shooting mostly landscapes, I use it to help fine tune compositions and, of course, for manual focusing. I move the focus frame to about 1/3 in, zoom to x10 and focus. I then move the focus frame to the bottom of the frame and x10 zoom again then hit the DOF button. I also take the shot from Live View as it's the same as using mirror lock up and I can time my shots better. Robert
