I'm new at photography. I have been mostly taking pictures of flowers and plants. and I really love these pictures. Critique would be helpful

Nice series. The first looks ever so slightly like its losing h/light detail whilst the second either has a blue cast or gives the ilulsion of having one. However, there seems to be some good reflections that could be enhanced in pp. The third is good and the fourth looks flat in terms of contrast and the final one just has the impression of over saturation.

#1is a bit soft. The focus is on the tip of the front petal and not on the heart of the flower. White flowers are always hard to expose correctly but this looks reasonably OK to me.

#2 is nice. sufficient depth of field (DOF). The blueish cast is natural, I think... With the blue/purple flowers all around (in the bokeh) there is some reflection.

#3 might need a little more "quiet" in the background. The flower/fruit is sharp but the background still has too much detail for the right bokeh. Colours are nice.

#4 misses a point to concentrate upon. Always a problem with flowers in bunches like these. May be a shallower depth of field and one small section really sharp while the rest "fades out" into background. Well focussed but slightly underexposed.

#5 is nice, sharp and colourful. The composition could be better. With the main flower a little further to the right and the almost finished one full in view in the left hand corner....?

When I shoot flowers (and I do that a lot) I always try to get - where approriate - the various stages of the flower in the frame: budding, full flower and when not too ugly a bit of a wilted one, may be just out of focus. Another thing to keep in mind (not as an iron rule but as something to remember) is the "rule of thirds" when composing (or later on cropping) your shot.

Keep shooting and have fun.
