new canon 50D err CF issue..

Yes it does, slightly different process with the CF in the camera and EOS utility controlling the process, thought it might get around the issue with the card slot since it's connected by the usb.

not trying to ask dumb questions, but have you actually tried to take a photograph? I have a 50D and any new card that I have bought, came pre-formatted. Upon the first photo, it would write the directory structure, and then the file.

Is the error only on the command to format the card, or is it not recognizing the card all together?

It will take a photo with the compact flash out of the camera... but once you install the cf, the "err cf" comes up and no photo is able to be taken.
