Based on previous new releases of bodies, how long did the previous model stay available before places like B&H, Adorama, etc... ran out of stock? I'm curious, because I really want to upgrade to a 50D, but I need to sell a rifle of mine first, and so far no one has approached me about it yet. I just don't want it where by the time I have the funds it is no longer available. Anyone have any insight?? Thanks.

No idea. I dont think Canon made that camera obsolete yet.

If you care, Canon runs a MIR for Pixma Pro9000 printer for $400 (till end of September). The printer can be bought for $350 at B&H now, and can be sold for $150 at ebay. That is about $150-$200 discount on a new 50D (or 50D kit).. the deal is applicable for 7D or 5D2 also, I think.

It's goood while supplies last. Canon will fulfill their obligations then cut production.

That's what I kinda figured, but I was curious as to what the window was like in the past (ie. when the 50D replaced the 40D).

50D does not entirely replace 40D so it's not so crazy that it still holds value.

Google the 50D, Butterfly has it (body only) for $788 shipped. The only was to save a little more is the CLP trade in on a refurb 50D with only a 90 day warranty.. New has a 1 year...

Nikon D4, Sony RX10, Sony RX100.

Wow! That sounds almost too good to be true. I wonder how reputable they are.

Looks like Butterfly Photo is not an authorized dealer. See http://usa.canon.com …anonAuthorizedDealers.pdf (external link)

You can buy mine - it is still new. sold by Adorama in July 2010. I decided I did not like the 50D, as I am used to FF, so you can buy it if you want, just click the for sale link in my signature ($750 with a 4GB card). Can't tell it apart from a new one, and only 1,927 actuations.

Google around, you will see that there are many rumblings that once the current stocks are depleted from shelves, there are no more shipments coming. Besides Canon has to start ramping up production of the next announcement!
