Why buy used? There's several on the classifieds for sale. One has been mentioned here. Mine is for sale with grip and 3 extra batteries for lower than what a new one costs. Deals can be found - you don't always have to buy new.

I know that many people have had great success with buying previously enjoyed equipment, but I'm a little leery about it.

I'm selling my AR-15 with all the accessories and ammo. It's a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 16" barrel.

For some reason, that rifle is not what I was picturing. Awesome though!

I used to be hesitant on used stuff too. However, I've learned that if you take your time and look around you can find what you're looking for. Not sure I'll ever buy any photo equipment new again, as you take such a hit if you decide to sell it.
