Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your workflow, settings, tips and tricks with the community. Your work is top notch. Some photographers guard that info better than Colonel Sanders' secret recipe.

People like you make this a great board.

Love the pictures. They all look great. Did having mom help aid in the comfort level during the shoot? It's something I hadn't thought of.

You're a good man Pham! You've taught a lot of us here. It is very kind of you to go through so much effort posting the details of each shot. Really enjoyed the information re: prelude to shoot. I bet mom gets a kick out of helping...not to mention a great amount of protection for you.

#4...gotta be post work on the bokeh right? If not that is the best placed dof circle I've seen.

Thanks as always for sharing!

I like your sitting/lying down poses. And nice thing you tell more about the shot, how you did it. Most other folks won't even put their exif in ths shot for some reason. Thank you.

What sort of stand is she holding?
.

the light stand is some tele-scoptic aluminum cleaning pole i got from a hardware store, on the tip is a kacey pole adapter (pole is under 20 dollars) adaptor is 30 dollars shipped

Pham, when you use both diffusion layers on the deep octa, do you more or less aim it at the subject or do you aim the hot spot past the subject?

it is like 3 modifers in one.

1. with out baffles.. it is like a beauty dish light.. very specular for good skin only
2. with first baffle on ..it is at its best.. the long lip controls and aims the light were you want
3. with larger baffle on it becomes a good soft light

it is 300 dollars so kind of expensive for a little soft box.. haha

These are great. Also thanks for sharing a bit of your workflow. Can we see the shot from the setup shot? It just looks a bit busy in the background and I was curious hnow it turned out.

I was thinking about getting a similar setup I can take with me everywhere. Did you get the A or S Quadras?

These are beautiful. The only thing I didn't like was the white shoes with that beautiful dress... two totally different styles IMO. The shoes seem to stand out and attract my eye...

Enjoyed seeing the process you went through to get the actual shoot itself... very insightful.

Lovely shots. I do think having 3 laying down shots it too many imo. I feel the doorway shot as being the best pose for your prospective model.

Everytime I see your posts I learn something new. Great photos, info and BTS photos. I really like how you state how far away your lighting is. This really helps newbies like me....cheers

Thanks for taking the time to describe everything. May I ask which pose books do you use?

digadv wrote in post #10927558 (external link)
Yes, I'd like to know also. Great work and really appreciate the play-by-play.

i use this book..

i bought it thinking it would give me lots of options.. but saving images on ipod touch is the better method..

Great shot and beautiful girl.

Thanks for all the info. Have you found any draw backs to that system or anything you would change if you were to go back and get it again?

Hey CT!....Have you ever gotten the Er1 error on the Ranger Quadra battery....I'm thinking I have a circuit problem with mine (just bought it 8/11/10)...went to use it last night for formals at a golf course and just turned it on while already connected to the flash head and it gave me the error. Tried it all day today and won't clear from the LCD display....guess I'll have to send to N.J.!...damn!
