This is Melissa Walker on the right in a quick duet with the MC of the festival Sheila E. Anderson from WBGO Newark NJ Public Radio.
Apparently Melissa went through some health challenges. She sounded strong and looked great on Sunday and showed she enjoyed being out there.

This is Louis Hayes, 83 and still banging. It was a heck of a photography situation with him being jammed up against the back of the stage and tucked in next to a speaker junk pile...

Both have some problems in the BG: On the first the person in the lower left. On the second, the mic stand in the back is just in the wrong spot. Pity.
Okay otherwise.

Would cloning out the offending bits be desirable?

I'd prefer not getting them in the frame in the first place. ;)

Quite a bit of work to clone them out well. Might be do-able, and I think you'd get a cleaner image.

Wether or not you think it's "ethical", is up to you. It's not newspaper photography, so I say why not?
Is it worth the effort? I don't know.
