So, our Fuji rep stopped by yesterday, and had a few cameras to show me. The first one I got my hands on was the F300 (with phase-detection AF!). Me being the geek I am knew exactly what to do, and set out to test the AF. It was the fastest auto focus I've ever seen in a compact! 15x zoom and the EXR sensor, and I just need to find $300 to spend on another compact I don't need...!
Then he grabbed out the W3, and that was about the coolest thing I've ever seen in a compact. The sucker is BIG. Just shy of the size of my 40D in width and height (well, a bit shorter, probably take out the penta-prizim and you get the idea) due to it having 2 lenses and CCDs. The screen is just as big, and will show the images in 3-D! It's wild as HELL to look at the screen and see the image appear to extend deeper than the camera.
The prints that Fuji makes remind me of my mom's old 3-D film camera: not great, but fun none the less.
The worst part was that he mentioned that my chain wouldn't be carrying the W3s on hand, as Fuji is targeting stores that will also offer 3-D TVs. The thinking goes that a 3-D TV will be a serious component of anyone owning one, so they want them to be seen side-by-side. So, anyone in the Central Ohio area that is looking into one of those, stop by and order just so I have an excuse to get my hands on one again!
