Caught the glint of the early morning sun on the face of Totem Pole...overnight winds blew out the clouds but left some nice ripples in the dunes.

Nice mono conversion Mike. I like the lead in with the sand ripples.

Thanks buddy...I'm starting to like the Silver Efex plug-in more and more...lots of latitude available.

Funny you mention that, Stan...I posted the color version as a side-by-side but decided to take it down. Even though it was early in the morning, the sky was starting to get 'hot' on the left side of the frame. I learned many years ago that B&W is an excellent way to control the hotness when the sky goes white, especially when there aren't any clouds in the frame. I may take another look at the color version, though.

I love Silver Efex. It's one of my favorite plug-ins from Nik.

Awesome as usual. I found myself staring at this image for a while.

Excellent composition; it looks great in B + W. Nice contrast, texture and shadows.

Interesting, looks a bit like IR with the whitish vegetation.

Only criticism would be that the shadows look like they've gone black.

That was deliberate...

It may very well be, but it ruins the photo nonetheless.

There's also a flare spot on the left which can easily be cloned out.

1.) No it doesn't

2.) I missed the flare spot in the web version, but took care of it in the master file...good eye.
