So I am wondering........How much do those of you with 13X19 format printers (Epson 2200 or Canon S9000 etc.) print larger than 8X10?

Is it 10% of the time? 90% of the time? Surely you don't print everything huge.

I am trying to decide if I need the larger format for home printing. Any advice would be great.

p.s. Canon 10D is awesome! I love shooting with it. It's really quiet.

I normally proof at 10" x 6.7".

Competition entries then get reprinted at 16" x 10.7" for mounting in 20" x 16" mounts. This is perhaps 10-20% of the shots that I deemed worth printing in the first place.

Most of the time, I print proofs at about 5x7 inches on my Epson 1270 printer. Then, if they are really good, I print a lot at 8x10 or 8.5x11 inches. The very best of those shots are printed at 11x14 inches, and only on rare occasions do I print photos at 13x19 inches, since they take up a lot of room on a wall.

Most of what I print at 13x19 are edited color topographic maps.

I am convinced that the worst problem facing us today is not the war, and it is not the economy. It is the terrible shortage of wall space.

I must admit the 13X19 prints from the S9000 are rather dramatic. But the expense of Pro paper and room to show off these prints limit me to about 20% usage. Lately I have been printing 13X19 images and taking them to Aaron Brothers (art supplies shop) to dry mount for about $10. I then use small 1X1 wood pieces with two sided tape as mounting brackets. This offset the images from the wall about an inch. Under normal lighting conditions, the shadows appear as a frame and give the image a three-dimensional look.
