I am having a problem getting a D-lite 400 sync port to be triggered by a flex TT5. I searched a few different forums and found (I think) the settings (basic trigger mode) that the mini and flex needs to be configured for but it still doesn't work.

When I press the shutter on my 7D with the mini in the hot shoe, the LED on the mini lights up red and I can see that the LED on the Flex (connected to the d-lite 400) lights up red at the same time. The cable connecting the Flex to the D-lite 400 is a Radio Shack 6.5ft Attenuating dubbing cable (1/8" (3.5mm) mono male to a 1/8" (3.5mm) mono male. Do I have the right cable? I was advised that this was the cable that I should get. The cable is plugged into the P2 port on the Flex that has the flash icon next to it.

BTW, using a sync cable from my 7D to the D-lite 400 sync port works. For more information on what I am doing:

Shooting a wedding reception and want to use two Flex's on two D-lite 400's to provide fill light for a huge dance floor (at opposite ends) and use my on camera 580 EX II for flash fill. All will be in manual mode (maybe ettl for the 580).

I am testing this setup and would appreciate any assistance or suggestions on what I may be doing wrong. Many Thanks!

Your problem is the attenuating cable that you're using. You need to get a standard mono cable.

PacAce, That did it! I went to a different RS who had a much bigger selection of cables and picked up #42-2420 - 1/8" (3.5mm) Mono Male to 1/8" (3.5mm) Mono Male.

Thanks again!
