check it out (and let Google translate it from German)

doesn't look terribly different from the v1.0. The new slash pocket in front is a little more styling. physical dimensions appear the same and a bit heavier (compared the 50, which is what I have). I was hoping for a radical evolution so as to have an excuse to buy a new bag but unless the inside is crazy different, I guess I'll stick with my v1.0 for the near future.

Interesting! I'm a pretty big fan of these bags, but like you say it doesn't seem like there's much of a difference between the new and old.

Not very sure where to put this, because this isn't a rumor, nor is the product out yet.

There's a member from a local photography forum (Singapore) living in Perth who said that he saw the Think Tank Photo Sling-o-matic and urban disguise v2 bag names in his local shop catalog a few months back. Now the sling bag is out, so the UD v2 should be coming soon.

Just a heads up I guess.

Cheers!

I never liked the build quality of this bag. I hope that's improved on this new model.

Really? I don't think I've ever seen a Think Tank bag that wasn't of excellent build quality.

I hope they fixed the little tab that holds the zipper on the bottom of the luggage strap pocket. mine started deforming and wearing holes in all my jeans where it swung against my side. before I figured out it was the bag I was blaming my cat for shredding my pants and yet saluting him for being so meticulous as to target the exact same spot on every pair...

Yes, I always found the interior finishing lacking when I reviewed these for myself at Adorama. Not true for the Rotation 360 pack which I bought there, however. Very different in the two series.

I found the Lowepro Stealth Reporter better in that regard. However, with the SR you can't veritcally put in a body plus long lens.

What did you not like about the interior? Just curious.

The finishing of the stitched inverted edges inside the bag; the ballistic nylon itself was not the quality I've experienced with Tamrac and Lowepro; the section padding was inferior to these as well. I didnt think it was up to the quality of Lowepro or of their Rotation backpack.

I'm sure there are a lot of shooters here who have had very good experiences with the UD bags, but I thought with all the pulling out and putting in gear in this utility bag, it could have been made better. Just MHO.

I think Jay that the UD bags also bear the characteristic of being light-weight and this coupled with their very efficient dimensions necessarily means that padding is kept to a minimum.

The Lowepros are much better padded but as a result of this comes some degree of bulkiness. I like to think I am careful with my gear so the lighter padded UDs don't bother me. What is important to me is that within relative tight confines, one can fit in quite a lot of gear.

In respect of the new UDs, if there's little change I doubt if I would have a need to " change up " so to speak - pun definitely intended :D

Cheers

You may be right about the lightness factor, I wasn't considering that.

Well Jay

The thing I love most about my UD40 is the amount that I can fit into what is a relatively small footprint. Mind you, the more you fit in, the heavier the bag becomes but my shoulder bags are purely to transport equipment to a given destination. I find that when shooting, a shoulder bag simply gets in the way. If I carry stuff beyond two bodies while shooting, then I use the TT skin components.

The translated text of the V2.0 doesn't provide copious detail. No mention as far as I can make out is made of the highly useful front pockets that are so characteristic of the V1.0 models. I'm assuming this feature has been adopted in the v2.0.

Cheers
