I'm trying to export photos from Lightroom 2 with a custom name that includes the date. I'd like to have the year, month and day with dashes in between, so for example today's date would be "2010-09-19", not "20100919". Is this possible?

Sure -- in the Export dialog, in the file naming panel. drop down the list to the Edit dialog. You will have to mess around with the Template to get things to looking right. Play around to get the look you want.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean typing in the date manually? What I wanted is to have the date automatically assigned to the exported file so if I have files from, say, ten different days, I wouldn't have to type it all in myself. I can see the date tags in the template editor, but none of them have dashes in between the year, month and day.

Well, this takes some playing with. When you select to Edit the naming template, you see the text box with the template tags, and you can add and delete tags and also type things. So, down in the drop-down lists for things like the Date, you can choose individual tags for month (MM), Year (YYYY or YY), etc. Those tags appear in the text box and in the example display.

Now if you click in the text box on a tag, you can delete it, but if you click between tags, you can type stuff in and you will see that it displays in the Example -- including not just dashes but anything you want to type in there.

So, you just have to play with it until you get "YY-MM-DD-xxxxx" to show up by deleting and inserting stuff.

Doh; it's so simple now you've pointed it out. Thank you.
