Ok...I bought the Ranger Quadra Head A To Go Set (external link) from B&H back on August 11, 2010.

Has anyone with this setup experienced the Er1 error that displays on the LCD display on the battery? The manual only says to turn it off, wait 5 minutes, turn it on and try again.

Is there a correct/incorrect sequesnce to connection of the cable to the battery & flash head...should it be off or on first, etc. Yesterday I intended on using it out at a golf course for a few wedding party formal shots but while the cables were connected to the battery and the flash head I turned on the battery...and then got this "Er1" error. This has happened several times since buying this....

If anyone can shed some light I'd appreciate it.

Never seen this, please post back what they find. I'd be curious to hear.

I got my Ranger Quadra back yesterday. After fisrt sending the battery, then speaking to John the service guy at Manfrotto, he said he needed the light head and cable too because he didn't see anything wrong with the battery.

So... I overnighted the light...then he tells me they tried to replace the board under the LED display in the powerpack...all told he determined the light/cable was fine and in the end they didn't replace the battery, but they did send a new powerpack. Haven't used it for a shoot yet, but initially checking it I haven't seen the error.

Cool, so at least it's fixed for now. I would suspect the pack, not the battery. But i guess time will tell.

Think I'll try to get some of the $60 in shipping reimbursed since the second shipment ($33 overnighted) they requested (light head and cable) ended up not being the problem at all. John was a nice guy about the whole situation and knew I needed it in a rush..and asked I email receipts for the shipping costs to see what he could do..very accomodating!

I'm just glad it works now...and came to find out I didn't need it today because the Mom that booked over a month ago with me for her Senior daughter (for today's shoot) booked with and had a session last Wednesday with a different photog without calling me to cancel...and I still haven't heard from her!!!....how rude was that?? You find all kinds in this biz!!
