Was bored at home on a rainy day, so I decided to mess around with my kenko extension tubes and my 70-200. Here's what I came up with:

Thanks everyone! I don't do much macro, mostly because I only have some extension tubes as opposed to a dedicated macro lens, but I find the 70-200 takes the tubes pretty well.

LordV, I think I might retry this shot using your focus stacking method I have seen you so masterfully use.

Definitely give the focus stacking a try, I've just got into it and being able to extend the depth of field is just awesome. Sometimes the narrow depth of field works well, like in number 3 (my favourite), where as on number 1 the drops at the top are only just out of focus. One thing you may find is you can't control the focus as precisely using the focus ring on the lens, you could either pick up a cheap 2 way focus rail for next to nothing on Ebay or you might find you'll have to stop down a bit to increase the depth of field and thus the focussing precision required.

If you use a fluorescent light you can really make the colours on the CD pop. Here is a quick example. Not the greatest. But the light makes all the difference. To get the cracks put the CD in the microwave for around 3 seconds. Not sure how healthy it is to warm up food after that.

Cheers!
