These were taken on a recent very quick 4 day vacation to Washington DC. All of these were hand held, taken with a Canon EOS XSi with either the 18-55mm kit lens or a 55-250mm EFS. They were RAW photos so they were processed for RAW, resized, and unsharp masked.

Thanks for looking.

did you use a tripod for the first one?

was the flag pole actually leaning to one side? there's a lot of extra area in some of your photos that could do to be cropped, like trees. you want to frame your subject, so people know what it is.

No i doubt the flag pole was leaning, as im sure you know tall vertical objects tend to look like they are leaning. If i would have noticed it i probably would have cropped it to adjust for that.

Shot 1 was hand held. I think it came out pretty good for hand holding. It was shot at a focal length of 25mm f/5.6, 0.6 shutter speed, ISO.400

Which shots specifically would you have cropped more? Image 2 i probably could have cropped some of the sky out but i would have removed any of the flag.

Thanks for your feedback.

i just mentioned it because i find it distracting. that's all. #1 definitely came out good for a hand-held shot, however i knew it was because the wording on the sign is blurry.

2, 3 and 4 could have been cropped more. too much lawn and too any trees.

is the last one supposed to be hdr?

anyways, i agree that 1 and 6 are the best. 6 being my fave.

Yeah 6 is 3 exposures combined. Im still trying to work on getting the image to look more realistic. I have a lot to learn on all fronts as i have only had m camera about 8 months or so and have been really shooting for about 5 months.

Thanks again for your feedback.
