I know we've had a poor summer again in Britain this year but now I'm really looking forward to the spectacular colours the trees are going to give us in the coming months.
This autumn I'm going to collect, photograph and try to identify as many different native species as I can, in order to improve my knowledge of the trees growing in this country. The greater the diversity of autumn colours from the more usual green the better.
If I find a really nice leaf from an introduced tree then I may weaken and include them too. I'm going to start in my garden, and, as the oak and beech have yet to produce any rich colours I will have to start with a Japanese Acer Palmatum in its summer guise. I will post an 'after' photo when mother nature has done some PP
