Leica X1 watch out!

Check this out...

http://www.dpreview.com …/10091910fujifilmx100.asp (external link)

Rangefinder styled aesthetics, APS-C sensor, optical viewfinder, 1280 HD video, wide angle fixed focal length f2 lens, 5fps, analogue controls...

I can't wait to check this out in person.

Good to know at least someone's listening out there.

the only negative I see is the non interchangeable lens? Even still, it looks awesome and I can't wait to see some reviews and maybe even buy one. This hits on 90% of what I've been looking for in a "P&S" for me...

I love to see this. My only problem is that I can't stand the thought of a prime on my P&S.

Wow, this is seriously the camera I have been waiting for for a long time. I almost fainted when I saw the press release!

So excited! :)

I am sure my dreams will be crushed when I find out what it costs.

I'm excited. Non-interchangeable lens will probably keep the cost down.

Thoughts/estimates on MSRP? Leica X1 is around $2K, so, sans the Leica brand I estimate $1000-ish? ;)

Tell that to Leica!

Although I guess compared to the M9, they did keep the cost way down.

It is hard to tell if they are going to try and go premium with this and charge a lot (like $1500) or compete with m4/3, nex and LX5 and go like $500. I hope the latter, because I would be all over it at under $600.

I'm completely stoked on this camera. I'm a lover of all things prime, give me a zoom and I'll still shoot it like a prime, foot zooming all over. Wide angled prime is an wonderful thing to have, especially at f2!

I'm currently shooting a Ricoh GRDIII for my P&S, awesome stuff, f1.9 wide angled prime too.

This camera, on paper; really looks like a Leica X1 killer! I had an X1 to test for a couple of weeks, this image quality was great. But everything else about the camera was sluggish...extremely sluggish! Plus the f2.8 max aperture was pretty limiting in low light, despite the fact that loads of folks sung its low light praises.

I don't think this camera will be priced too high since there's no red dot on it ;)

It does look like a nice camera, id rather see it with a 35mm lens over a 23mm... Then it would be the classic 50mm range. But 35mm is nice as well.

I hope they price it competitively too - though I may find myself stretching for the chequebook if the reviews are good.

Now if Canon will get off their butts and make a digital Canonet...

Most of the classic film fixed lens rangefinders had 35 or 40mm lenses as a nice wide-normal compromise. 50mm is better for people, but a little narrow for scenic shots.
