i would cancel the pre-order with amazon and go with adorama! amazon was the very last to get the leica x1 when it first released. i believe amazon was also near the end for the t2i as well....

It's always different. Adorama and B&H took forever to get the D7000 in but Amazon and Best Buy had it earlier. It's always a toss up. Plus I'm an Amazon Prime member. Only $3.99 for NBD.

BTW, did you say only 3 weeks because that is when March is here or did Adorama give you a date?

Even still, it looks awesome and I can't wait to see some reviews and maybe even buy one. This hits on 90% of what I've been looking for in a "P&S" for me...

:shock::shock::shock:

Looks like Amazon "sold out" of their preorder. Hope that means I get one of their first batches.

I wonder if anyone else will have the cajones to make a camera like this so that the niche factor and price can drop. Sigma was the first, but they still haven't figured out how to make a camera that people can get excited about.

Its all about the Retro looks and the marketing hype for it.

Nothing wrong with retro looks now, is there! Not only is it a beautiful camera, but I think the looks will serve a purpose too, particularly for "street" photographers. An SLR is intimidating and obtrusive, and a compact P&S (I'm including the Sony NEX cameras in here because I hate their aesthetics) can seem amateurish/touristy/slightly creepy even. If I see someone with a rangefinder or a pre-AF film SLR, I'm inclined to think "This guy/gal is a serious photographer, but they do it for the love of the craft more than anything else," and I let them take pictures. Not, of course, that people often take pictures of me on the street.

To me, the things that aredrawing people to this over the Sigma DP series are:

1. The look
2. The lens
3. The hybrid viewfinder

The lens is the thing that the Sigma DPs have screwed up, in my opinion. One has a 28mm f/4 and the other has a 40mm f/2.8. Neither of those is appealing to me in any way. A 35/2, however, is getting there.
