Well, I gotta say this camera is just amazing. A-Maz-Zing.

Sadly, I just got a G11 at a very good price and I'm wondering if I buy the X100, will my faithful G11 just sit in the drawer? The G11 has a better price, zoom lens and is perhaps a tad smaller. But, I'll bet the image quality on the X100 is going to be superior and the G11 is no slouch in that department.

Is anyone else casting a sad look at their G series Canon, feeling like the hare just shot past the faithful tortoise?

Well the X100 has a sensor similar to the one in your 7D, so hard to compare it to a G11. :)

It was pretty comparable to any APS-C camera from the past year or 2. Looked pretty good.

First time I've seen that. That appears to be a mighty fine lens, doesn't it? Sharp corners, good bokeh...I'd love to see some RAW files. Too bad the sensor isn't FF; the DOF control seems just a bit lacking (as one would expect).

I would expect a $3000 price tag if it were FF, though. I do get what you are saying, 23mm f2 on 1.5x crop is like 35mm f3 on FF. Good, but not extremely exciting. ALmost puts in in league with the Panasonic GF + 20mm f1.7 @ 40mm f3.4 equivalent.

that was actually exactly what i was thinking. the out of focus areas blend so smoothly with the sharp parts of the photos shown. the rounded aperture blades seem to do their job well. plus this thingy has a 3stop nd filter included, which actually makes shooting wide open possible under almost all conditions. however, i would really like to see some high iso/ low light pictures. even jpgs would be fine, since one couldn't make much out of the actual raws for now...

FF vs CROP is not a big deal. It is only if you are shooting landscape and need a wider frame of view. The blur form my 1Ds II vs my wifes 40D at 200mm F2.8 is so close one cannot tell. Overated I think you really worry about it go and by a P65 and get a real sensor.:p
