my 50D which i purchased used currently has the firmware 1.0.2

my question is, should i upgrade? what are your opinions? and if i should upgrade where is the best place to get them with instructions on how to do it.

i've done firmware updates on other stuff, so i know the basics. i.e. full battery, do not shut off etc.

Thanks in advance!

I noticed that high ISO perfomance was better with the update from 1.0.2 to 1.0.7

Its nothing to worry about, just use a links in yogestee post and make sure your camera is fully charged.
