Ummmm,,, non-Canon owners???

:p

That's actually unproductive.

A large amount of us discussing the technical points probably all agree that these are just tools to use.

There's some good debate on the back pages, but did you really need to say that?

and for the guy that doesn't want a camera with Rebel on the side is going to buy the 60D. .

That's me pretty much. I'm planning to buy a 60D soon. I want to go Canon because a family member has an XSi, and I want the ability to share lenses/SD cards, but I don't like the "Rebel" branding. It's a stupid name imo. I don't know why they couldn't just call them xxxD in North America like the do in Europe. I was considering ordering a 550D from digitalrev, but I decided I don't want to deal with not having a Canon USA warranty. 60D it is!

Now that the 60D's are around $900 body only, there is little not to like. It's definitely a $200 upgrade over the t2i and much cheaper than the D7000 it keeps getting compared to.

Agreed. I was considering a D7000 before I thought about the fact that I'd like to share Canon lenses, but it's much more expensive.

...but why charge so much for something using a rebel t2i sensor ...

Hmmm... of all the things you might pick to criticize, the sensor shouldn't be one of them. That's a real reach... "a rebel sensor" LOL!

You guys want a lil cheese with that whine? LoL. Seriously, buy what fits your needs. Stop **** and moaning about the name, what shoulda been and what coulda been. You think Nikon D7000 is better? Good! Buy that! Whatever gets the job done. The 60D fits my needs. I'm happy with it and that's all that matters.

IM soooo mad at Canon for this marketing move. It forces me to have to buy another 7d as a video/back up body. Especially since the 60d does not have MA which most of my lenses all need.

I'm a little confused about your post. The 60D has an articulating screen and manual audio controls - two things that would make it the better camera for video. The image quality between the cameras are very close as well. I don't see how this forces you to get another 7D as a back up body/video body at all.

Er, if you're shooting video surely you're using manual focus. So MA is redundant. Or are you just hopelessly searching for something you don't like?

Seems like you'd be more upset about lenses, rather than bodies, if ALL your lenses need MA! :)

You mean the sensor of the 7D and a way better focusing system than any rebel camera ever had. :p

I had a chance to try out the 60D and also tested the wireless speedlite control (indoors with a single 430EXII). Using E-TTL it needed -1 EV flash exposure compensation, but apart from that it worked very well.

I see there are cretins still bagging this body.

They should give it a go. It might help them take better exposed pictures of kittens

Asm far as the body construction on the 60D vs 50D and 7D, yes the magnesium body is very nice and solid to hold, but what does it actually do? I think if you drop a camera like these you will have problems no matter what the construction is. I'm a hiker and I know that in that activity, people spend a great deal of money getting the lightest gear possible. When you hike tough terrain for multiple days and big mileage the weight adds up. I see the Rebel series and the 60D as lightweight cameras that will be a lot easier to carry around in many situations. If you want to cut weight these non magnesium bodied cameras will be your choice.

This type of material has been used for years. Think about M16 rifles. They've been used my the military for 40 + years. Dirt bikes and ATVs all use plastics and they take major abuse.

He's concerned about hearing the na na na na na na's from the D7000 owners. That's apparently more important to him than getting the best tool for the job.
