He told us what is problem was... He's concerned about hearing the na na na na na na's from the D7000 owners. That's apparently more important to him than getting the best tool for the job.

I always use the line "You may have a more expensive, fancy camera, but I'm still getting the better pictures" :D Very effective.

After the disappointing specs, my first hands on experience with the 60D (today) was even more of a let down. The plastic feels cheap, the controls too. The size sucks for someone with large hands (most men). The swivel screen is even worse than I had imagined... Thanks Canon.

The swivel screen really turns me off, as does the lack of micro adjust (considering the 50D had it). It seems way too consumer-y for my taste.

And that's what you get with a 60D!

I'm really surprised they took the MA out of the body. I've never had to MA a lens, but the lack of the feature was one of the reasons that turned me off to it.

I DO LIKE the fact that you can flip the screen around to protect it while traveling. That's probably a bonus, or a perceived bonus :)

It seems like canon tried to make the 60d more of a video camera than a photographer's camera

Yeah, I wish Canon would release a rugged, "pro"-like APS-C body that is slightly bigger, features stuff like micro-adjustment and doesn't come with a swivel screen!

Wait a sec...

Strange, those three aspects seem to have gotten rave reviews from everyone who own the camera, including myself. The "feel" is almost identical to a metal body (except with the advantage of being lighter), the size is perfect with complaints from no one except you (bigfoot?), and the articulating screen is a major creative boon that will soon be on all Canon DSLRs.

You are either purposely trying to put the camera down for some unknown reason, or you just don't know what you're talking about.

Yes, it's crucial that you have that feature that you've never needed. Makes a lot of sense!

I can't stand the buttons. It may be a great camera (one of my friends has one) but some of things about it just annoy me, almost like Nikons do ;)

Point taken, however I'm not a fan of purposely dumbing down models, which is obviously the case here given the lack of microadjust, joystick, and alloy chassis (that the 50D had). Furthermore, the 7D is $500 more than the 60D (not an insignificant sum).

IMHO the articulating screen is a gimmick for soccer moms and [Imo] it (as well as video capability) does not outweigh the lack of aforementioned features. To me the articulating screen is just another thing that can break. Many of us just want to use the camera for photography and have no interest in shooting videos.

To me the articulating screen was meant to entice point and shooters to DSLR and it's working fabulously

Why would anyone be interested in images that move? I'm sure you would never go to a movie, you only look at still images, because life itself is static, never moving. Why would anyone want to experiment with patterns of light that change in time, or document their kids with movement and sound in stunning images? Why change your perspective with a moving LCD screen, everyone knows it's best with your face right behind the camera shooting the way you are used to?

Like the hinge on the LCD, make sure you don't open any doors - they might break. I guess Fellini, Scorsese and Hitchcock are soccer moms too, fooling around with a gimmick. .;)

I think a lot of people put it down to make themselves feel better about spending money on a 7D that they dont use within 75% of its capability. I held a 60D today for the first time and thought it felt great. Nice size in my hand, and I do have big hands, certainly didnt feel cheap, and I think the swivel screen is brilliant.

Are you suggesting that Scorscese makes movies using a canon 60d?

Let's be completely honest here, nobody that really knows their stuff will shoot anything significant using a consumer grade camera.

Also, bolded for emphasis of my point.

No, people put it down because any photographer that knows what they're doing won't touch it when they can get a 50D or a 7D.
