I like the last photo but the "halo" effect that HDR brings to me seems too unnatural and doesn't add to the pictures but takes away. First one for sure strikes me as odd for having that lighter blue around the tall structure.

Thanks, yea I tried to bring the effect down as much as I could in the first shot...it's just so dark, but I still like the way it turned out. :o

I'm still getting the hang of HDR and have found out that it definitely doesn't suit everyone's taste. :D

Its a hit and miss for alot of folks.I don't mind the halos that are mild.but string halos and fringe ruins it for me.

Done properly( and I do not do HDR.not skilled enough!) HDR can really make a superb image.but it takes a skilled hand and patience I think.

Impressive captures and pp work, just some slight haloing if one wants to be extra critical.

I'm not going to lie and say that I try to get a "natural" looking image from my HDR shots, but I do try to stay away from the blown-out over the top stuff. (most of the time)

So I asked this question in another thread but did not receive response: What exactly is meant by halo/haloing? :o

You can see the color changes hopefully ever so slightly around the buildings.

Ah, I see. I've got some major haloing going on in my flickr HDR Set. At least I know what I need to work on.

So...on the halo front, I decided to try Photomatix. I found it a lot easier to avoid halos using it over Photoshop CS5. I am probably going to reprocess some of my images in Photomatix. Here is an example: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=933962

The first one was tone mapped in PS CS5 (you can see the halos), the second in Photomatix (halos are pretty much gone).

Ditto on the shots - nicely done. I do like the 2nd and 3rd the best. However, I could do without the plants in the watersteps. They are a little distracting. Too bad they were there. Looking forward to seeing more like these.
