Any comments/feedback?

This is something I am trying to do as a living. Local golf course photography.

These are nice photos, but as a golfer, I'm not getting enough of a sense of what the course has to offer. The first photo puts the focal point on the pond, whereas I am left wondering what the fairway/green looks like in the distance.

I love the lighting in the second shot, but again, left wondering about the actual course. On the second one, I noticed a lot of divots...might be a good time to get familiar with the clone stamp or content aware fill in PS5, to really make the condition of the course sing!

The second shot is very nice. But I'm not sure there is enough of a market to earn a living doing golf course photography, especially local golf course photography.

I'd crop some of the lake off in the first one, there's abit too much of it, and it's distracting. However, as a golf course photographer, you're going to want to show off the courses features as much as possible if you're trying to entice in new members.

The second picture, looks great, really nice colours - but again if it's to entice new members, then it should show a feature in it.

First picture with abit of cropping attached.

To give a nice perspective you may want to bring a rather large latter out and shoot at dawn to really see the rolling hills in the golf course. I haven't really been to many golf courses but I think that would be a solid way to pull off shots to get the customers coming.

I like the second but would prefer the trees a little darker.

Thanks for all the comments. Really useful.

I like the cropped one of the pond.

I personally love the light on the 2nd one myself, but doesnt feel it shows much....although I have just had a sale with it, from a friend.

A 30x20 canvas print. So I cant complain.

And yeah, looking at the trees, I will I had the trees slightly darker. Hopefully it will bring in some more sales as it is.

Shooting on golf courses isn't as easy as it seems it would be! I've tried a couple of times ... maybe the wrong gear or wrong perspective or whatever, but what I was seeing and what transfered to the camera were two different images!

Good luck and keep shooting. If you find the recipe, please post it!

I too love the second. I think they would have been much nicer if golfing was never mentioned to begin with. Lovely shots either way.

Ditch the polarizer on the ultra-wide shots...you can clearly see what it did to the first image. As someone else has mentioned, if you're going to shoot golf courses, show the golf course. Most courses have a 'signature' hole...that would be a good place to start. Early morning shots would be better...you could catch the sunlight while the sprinklers were operating with backlighting, the bunkers would be freshly raked and not have any shoe prints, the greens wouldn't have any ball marks, etc. Show the topography of the course...

There is a magenta cast in 1. I agree with kyle* re showing the course, if that's the purpose of the image.

Sorry, but the sky and water are totally unnatural...too overcooked makes for bad HDR.
