A friend of mine has one, I'm going to meet her tomorrow, and we'll see from there.

I have a totally unrelated suggestion.

I suspect your avatar is a photo of you taken in front of a mirror. If so, you might consider holding your camera a bit differently. Your left hand is backwards from the best way to hold the lens. Your left thumb should be on your left and the fingers of your left hand under the lens with the palm up. The reason for this is so that you can get your left elbow (as well as your right elbow) tucked tightly into your body and cradle the lens in your left palm while the fingers can move to adjust focus or zoom.

What you appear to be doing now is essentially supporting the camera with your right hand and merely tweaking a lens setting with your left. The result is that you lose support that could be holding your camera steady.
