yep. Kenko 1.4 TC used (not reported in EXIF). Filters works. Elements touch at ~12mm is so I stuck to around 13mm (17mm ish).

I'm on the fence between keeping a 5D with my 7D or going JUST crop... Also, had this really worked down to 10mm it'd be 14mm on FF WITH filters which would be amazing. But as it is, if I keep the 5D I'll swap the 10-22 for a 17-40. The other option is selling the 5D for a 24-105 and 50 1.4...

Hi Jacobsen - fantastic photos by the way.

Apologies if I sound a bit daft - I dont understand the whole "with filters" bit and how they could be a problem? I thought filters fitted on the end and thats it?

Also did you put the TC on and then the 10-22 but as you wind back the lens to 10mm, the rear element touches the glas on the TC?

I have a 10-22 and a 5D and I was thinking of selling but if I can get it to work with the purchase of a TC then it might be worth keeping.

no worries, I'm pretty sure I'm the ONLY person who's ever done this, at least on PotN and flickr (someone did it with a sigma 10-20 which gave me the idea).

Filters are a PITA on the sigma 12-24 and nikon 14-24mm on FF. So if this were to work at 10mm with filters with a 1.4 TC it'd be a 14mm efl that could easily take filters. From what I've seen it sounds like the sigma 10-20 gives you exactly that.

filters do add to the threads in the front, it's just that for FF 16mm has always been the widest FL they'd work on. Anything wider is physically too wide for them w/o getting crafty.

Also did you put the TC on and then the 10-22 but as you wind back the lens to 10mm, the rear element touches the glas on the TC?

exactly. Keep the marker from touching the right side of the 12mm mark and you're safe. It's roughly 17mm and up, so if you want to keep this lens it works, but a 17-40 is probably smarter?

Ah, ok - thanks for that, it makes a bit more sense now. So basically you're trying to avoid the pitch-black vignetting from hell because its so wide and also the sound of glass crunching glass.

Which model of Kenko 1.4 TC did you use?

It's been a while, but I think you have to hook it up to your computer and change it in DPP.

yes and the 300 pro DG version. Look at the shots of them on B&H and make sure the element on the lens side is recessed.
