I think I might get more mileage out of the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM and an EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM... I don't have anything longer than 105 and I think I'm missing a few far shots...

Keeping the Tokina 11-16, Sigma 30 f/1.4 and Tokina 100 Macro...

Not planning on upgrading to FF...

Does this make any sense...?

Thanks

Mike

Yes it does as the 17-55 is pretty much the king of the EFS lenses IMHO. I loved mine and only traded my away cause I was not using the wide side at all. I miss how sharp it was! The focus speed was killer fast ans the IS helped tons in lowlight.

It doesn't matter if it makes sense to us, it matters if it makes sense to you!

I guess the big question is do you feel like you'd like a wider lens when you have the 24-105 on your camera? Or is 24 usually wide enough? I guess I'm trying to ask if you are certain you want to replace the 24-105 with the 17-55. If so, then by all means make the switch. It does not do you any good to keep a lens if it will end up collecting dust.

I just got the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 OS HSM, which is primarily my indoor lens. I also recently got a refurbished 24-105 from Adorama that is primarily my outdoor lens and travel lens. I, too, and looking to get something longer than 105, but I'm not sure what I want yet.

Your right...I'm the only one that has to shoot with my gear...

I think the 17-55 IS would be better indoor for me than the 24-105L... and I think the longer reach of the 70-300 would work great outdoor for me...

Did I just convince myself...?

If I still had APS-C I would have traded my 24-105 for the 17-55 by now.

I had the 17-55 before I sold it off to upgrade to FF. Its definitely one of the best EFS lenses if you like to shoot wide angles, tack sharp and extremely fast focus. What type of photography do you usually shoot? If you feel like you need a wider lens than your current and aren't upgrading to FF anytime soon then it is an excellent choice.
