Sep 21, 2010 00:40 | #4 Thanks for the comments, Im shooting with a t1i with the 15-55mm kit lens for these. I did edit the photos in PS. and added some saturation which to some degree made the lights seem yellow. Would it be stronger if I kept the background the same and selected the car in ps and adjusted just that? Every bit of critique helps. Thanks a lot. Canon 7d

jwcdds Cream of the Crop More info | Sep 21, 2010 00:50 | #5 Well, if you're shooting in RAW, then it's a lot easier to correct. You can just adjust the white-balance sliders until the lights appear to be the right color (and the car). Julian

Ya I take lots of pics outdoors but none that I like enough to post. Something about these I liked. Idk, trying to learn. Quality is better. Much larger image files though. It retains far more detail than the compressed JPG's that you are likely shooting. With RAW, if you don't get the exposure correct, you have a much better chance of saving it by pulling detail out of the shadows and highlights.

A RAW file contains all the data the camera records, whereas the jpg file is converted from that. Taking the time to shoot in raw and then converting it yourself allows you to fine tune the white balance, contrast. vibrancy, saturation and exposure to a greater degree.
