I'm tired of carrying lots of heavy bodies and toting around a bunch of lenses. Anyone else ever feel like they want to downsize? I'd love to but for my wedding shooting, I feel no one single camera is excellent for absolutely everything... which is why I end up shooting with 4 different types of bodies. The closest thing in my kit which I consider the closest to being "best for everything" is my 40D, which is the cheapest body I have. It makes me want to leave all my other crap at home, but I know once I get there I'll probably wish I had brought my other stuff.

I really wish canon made a "do-everything-amazing" wedding camera. Maybe I'm just nitpicking.

Anyone else feel like downsizing? Anyone else annoyed by their gear?

I finally gave up on trying to fit gear to my photography (had three bodies .. one of each sensor "flavor") and decided that APS-H is, in fact, the perfect compromise.

So, 5DC, MkIII, 40D becomes MkIII / MkIV and I'm much happier.

As for "Bring It Vs Use It" .. I find that using a very large backpack (much larger/heavier than I would ever want to carry) to get stuff on site and then making use of a vest or a messenger bag is the way to go. I like having the ability to go back to my truck for something if I decide to change up. Heck, I've even thrown my entire Pelican in the back if I'm really on the fence! :D

I'd love APS-H if they made a zoom for 1.3. Because 24mm at 1.3 crop is just a bit too long for regular shooting for me. I end up doing a lot of lens switching. :( Like I said, there doesn't seem to be a slam dunk option. Quite honestly though, the D300s is about the best slam dunk body around in my opinion. The only problem is the lens selection is lacking.

One lens... haha I wish! I dream of having a 5 lens kit... that's as small as I can practically go.

If able (obviously) take 1.3 steps back and *VOILA*, problem solved! :D

If you truly need wider, they do make 'em. KnowwhatImean?

Less weight would be nice ... but I'll do what it takes to get the pictures, and that means multiple bodies and lenses. I try to bring as little as I dare, with experience you know what you will likely use, but the bag is still massive for some shoots.

I won't get "sick" of gear until I manage to have myself a 500mm. :D

Wow, you carry a lot of gear Lloyd. And here I thought an ideal wedding setup would be:

FF + 24L/85L
FF + 70-200L
OCF

And I think if I ever was coerced into shooting weddings, it would be nothing more than a 70-200 and a 16-35.

When assisting w/ wedding I rarely use the 24-70. It's the 17-40L and 80-200L on the 1D2. Takes care of most everything needed

Boy does that sound familiar.

IMO the 1D3 and 1D4 (depending on budget) really fit the bill for a camera that does it all. IQ to rival the 5D2, top level AF, dual cards, weathersealed, large viewfinder, etc. etc.

But I have the same struggle as you Lloyd with the wide angle zoom selection. I use the 24-105 and invariably 24mm isn't wide enough. Go for the 17-40 and now 40mm isn't long enough.

So I kept my 5D classic, which when paired with the 24-105 is perfect with regards to portability (one lens, one body, one flash) and focal length coverage.

So I guess this makes the 1Ds3 the perfect solution for you. That or a Nikon D3s with their new 24-120 f/4 VR then, right?;)

I only have 1 body and 2 lenses, and I sometimes wonder what it's all about. Thought many times of selling up and just buying an S90 or whatever.
