Some rolling shots

I'm new to photography and my friend let me borrow his car for a photoshoot since i wanted to practice, also another photographer friend was nice enough to let me borrow his 10-22mm and 70-200 4L lenses so i just popped them on my rebel XS.

then the next day there was a BBQ/caravan/cruise car meet and we passed over some bridges on the way to the park. so on the way home we made a couple passes along the bridges to get some rolling shots. this is my 2nd attempt at rolling shots.
Any constructive C&C is greatly appreciated, Thanks for looking

I realize this one is slightly out of focus and I am extremely bummed due to that... i still like it though.

2 could have been improved if the pass window was up.

The Lexus on bridge is great. Strong lines through pic anno distractions good ccllour contrast too.

My 5c.

Great light on #4, & you handled #2 well, too.
#1: It's OK, but keep in mind that, if you want a black car to "pop out", a white background just pulls our eye away from it and those bright areas tend to make the dark car look even darker. Take a look at POST #30 near the bottom: The gray bar at the center is the same density all the way across.

we where taking a break underneath an overpass. the area we where at was long beach harbor, there isn't alot of traffic off the freeways there. so we where chilling and a cop came by to check out what we where doing since it was a noparking zone. anyway long story short he was super chill and we asked him to turn on his lights and move it closer to our cars so we could get pics :) and then he left us in peace

Thanks, I see what you mean, the direction your eye goes is up naturally. so when shooting dark cars try to shoot against a darker background pretty much. i need to re-read that thread a few times.. its hard to soak it alllll in one go.

Really great pictures.
Last one though is great, just the fender looks matte to me on the Lexus. Also what is on the bottom left of the image? Looks like a creeper (pads with wheels to work under cars with) haha Great job otherwise. ;)
Keep up the great work

thanks alot, hmm yea it does look off. it must've happened when i tuned down the highlights a bit in the photo. i think i was bouncing light off the wall behind me. i know i did on a few shots but not sure about this one. anyways looks like i didn't since i turned down the highlights to get rid of a hot spot

yea i decided to leave this as a full crop, and not crop anything out. if you look carefull in the reflection of the paint you can see a cone, thats what you thought was a creeper/crawler. Then also if you look in the window reflection you can see the no parking anytime sign.

Thanks again

I know right! it is actually pretty shocking. I figured that since it is an unmarked police vehicle, he probably doesn't do routine traffic stops, and traffic enforcement etc. maybe his paygrade is to high to bother? lol. And honestly, we weren't doing anything bad. when he rolled up on us there was 5 chilling & talking, 2 taking pictures w/ 5 cars lined up against the wall under the overpass. All cops should be like that guy, we weren't doing anything wrong just enjoying out afternoon staying out of trouble haha.

Great pictures.
A few question for my own personal curiosity and for future rolling shots,
How did you get so much "movement" in the pics with only a 1/90 and 1/100 shutter speed? I always suspected that you needed atleast a 1/60 to capture real movement and things like wheel blur.
How fast were you going?
Was your upper body completely out of the window?
