Hi,

What do people think of this? I am interested in the technique and the PP, but you can critique the shot as well if you like. It was just an "off the cuff" shot of my daughter as she was messing around...

I like the idea of the canvas effect, I think it'll work really well with portraits and landscapes.

Not sure if this is a crop or not, but it would look abit nicer if the eye line was abit lower, with abit of forehead showing to make it abit more central.

The version I saw which led me to try this was a lighthouse, blue sky, etc. on a white "canvas", so I think you're right about the subjects for this treatment.

This was not an "intentional" shot - i was just messing with my daughter, so there is no forehead...

But I liked it to try this technique on, anyway.

Thanks for the "like" :D

It's looks like a photo that's been PP with canvas textures. I've experimented with similar techniques and I understand it takes a lot of time and effort to get a photo looking like a painting. My suggestion would be too keep trying.

Here's are a couple of examples.

I don't think that's the effect he was going for. The impression I got was that he wanted it to have a canvas background effect, not that the picture should look like it was painted.

I like the after picture of the dog you linked to though

True, I wasn't really looking for a "Painted" look...but I agree...the pictures in the links are great, and it might be worth a play with those!

Thanks

It's an interesting effect but just reminds me of all my problem printers.
