^^ nice pics Brummel, I think I may have already seen the leopard shot in one of your galleries.

How do you like the Sigma 2x teleconverter? Was it you who tested 3 different TCs and decided on the Sigma? (I know I read that somewhere but I forgot who did the tests)

I sold the Sigma (and Canon equipment) some weeks ago. But i would have kept the Sigma TC. I saw no differences to the Canon 2.0 II.

I did not show those two pictures above before. The older pictures were made with the Kenko 1.4 DG Pro.

I am actually going to do a comparison test between an old 2x Kenko MC7 (non-DG), a new Kenko 2x mc4 DGX and a Sigma APO 2x that I just bought. Once they (the mc4 and the Sigma) arrive, I'll post pics.

It will be interesting for me to see, if your DGX has the same exposureproblems as mine had. The DGX was very sharp but produced random exposurefailures on my 7D.

Yeah, I'm curious too. Now I remember reading about your experience with exposure troubles. Perhaps it's because of the electronic trickery used in the Kenko DGX series...

Im looking at getting a 2X for mine shortly, would it be better to get the sigma over the canon 2x Mk2. I can get the mk2 new from the shop I got the lens for £250 or the sigma for £185 new from ebay. Im in 2 minds as Im unsure if the canon would provide slightly better optics but on the other hand the sigma is designed for the lens and will work on my 180mm Macro Sigma where as the canon won't. Im swinging to the sigma in all fairness but what are your thoughts?

IF I had the money, that's probably what I'd buy. But 450-480 bucks is just too much.

well I read it, helped a little but Im still confused, probably get the sigma 2x as it's duel purpose then and I can use it on the 180 macro, bit better value and costs less than the canon.

Got out in a bit better light today and got some nice Shots. All taken with the 1.4x Canon mk2 TC attached. I was really pleased with the quality and got a nice sharp image at 420mm wide open at f/4, these were both at F5.6 though.

nice ones Ashley!

I received the Kenko MC4 DGX 2x TC. I immediately compared it with my old MC7 and came to the conclusion that the MC7 is a little better. Center sharpness is the same, but the MC4 gets softer towards the edges. It is going back to Adorama.
A new Sigma 2x EX DG is coming this week, we'll see if that can puch the MC7 off the throne :)
