Now that Sigma is using weather sealing, they are going to put a hurt on Canon sales.

Which is a good thing, because they have a bit of a monopoly on the higher end lenses at the moment. Way over-priced. But since it is our only option usually, we are willing to pay out the derrier. :p

There's a rumour floating about that Sigma are developing a new 500mm f4 OS HSM to replace their current 500mm f4.5....which will really steal Canon's thunder over their new 500mm f4 IS II L

Looking good :) but I do not think the fellow on DChome has a sharp 300 2.8 with 2xTC combo.

I hope they'll price it at $4000-5000

Actually i ponder if Sigma could introduce a 200-500 f/4 OS HSM for $4000-5000....Think of it....

No offense but that seems to be the usual response when someone posts something about a sigma product being as good or better than a canon product...it's kind of a broken record at this point... :) it might be true in some cases, but i really don't think so here. People were saying the same thing when lightrules posted his thoughts on the 17-50 OS as well "that 17-55mm IS isn't a good copy", but now it's accepted that the 17-50 OS does match up....it took quite a long time to sink in, though. The newer Sigma products are really very very solid.

Why would they bother? The 100-300 gets to be 140-420 f4 with a 1.4tc.

I hope Sigma bring out a few more weathersealed lenses and longer primes.

There doing well with shorter ones, 35L competitor coming soon?

I think its true about a lot of products in general that its either a bad copy or "you just cant use it"

Got a problem with your 7D? you're an idiot obviously

Think your 100-400 is better than the Sigma 150-500? Then the Sigma is a bad copy...

'Bad copies' are often just copis with tolerances that dont play well with your other gear.

As lensrental.com articles say , manufacturing tolerances for SLR gear needs to be tighter than laboritory optical equipment, and in reality it just isnt.

Seeing as how some of the new Sigma zooms are putting up higher resolution numbers than a few of the L primes, I would not be surprised if this lens follows the same trend...

Hopefully someone compares the new 120-300 at 120-200mm. I would rarely use that range, but ti would help me make the choice to pull the trigger. :)

Yeah, that is certainly true (love the lensrentals.com articles, too, lol)
