I have a Tilopa BC with large and small Pro ICUs. The large ICU will hold what you listed. I managed to pack my 5d3 attached to the Sigma 120-300 Sport, a 7D, a 24-105, a 70-200 f/2.8 IS II, and I think a couple other small items into mine for a trip a while ago. It took some time to arrange to make it fit, but it will!

With a 2x Sigma TC plus extension tube, this is a juvenile water moccasin trying to blend in.
No crop, 459mm and f8 to salvage some DOF

Got out with the 2x TC today. These were taken at f6.3 and 600mm. The overcast winter light really shows in the first two, but the green bokeh of the third makes spring seem within reach.

^^^Very nice shots. Any crop on these? And what was your distance? I get as close as I think I can without spooking the birds and I still can't fill the frame like that unless I crop heavily. I'm using a 5DMkIII and the 2x, so 600mm on a FF.

The middle one has no crop. The other two are cropped for composition. Using the 2x TC I can fill the frame with a hummingbird on my 7D. (Wish I had a 5DMkIII though:-))

So how close to the birds were you?

M_Six I was maybe 15ft? Beautiful work with the 2x Dre!

Ok, that makes sense. I'm usually 60-70ft away. I need to try moving closer, I guess.

One more question if you don't mind. Where do you mount your extension tube? Before or after the 2x converter?

Thanks.

I usually mount the 2x TC directly to the lens and then mount any extension tube(s) between the TC and camera body

Gabe did some testing and came to that conclusion. I have the Canon and Sigma 2x TC and I find the Sigma to also have a slight edge.

Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread, but I would like to know what body are you guys using with Teleconverters? I have a Canon 1.4 TC (I), and was under the impression that I was not going to be able to auto focus with my 7D (I), or my 5D MKii.

Thanks.

:) No worries Keddy.

A few more from today. We got more snow last night and the overcast sky with the winter light made for a moody feel. The OOF spot of ice on the branch with the sparrow is a bit much. I might have to clone it out.

These are all at 600mm, ISO400, and F6.3, and none have been cropped.

Just to hone my bird stalking, I may forgo the 2x TC and use extension tubes. :-D

Speaking of extension tubes, this makes for a pretty decent close up lens.
Uncropped dime EXIF intact, bare lens plus 65mm of extension
