Did anyone using this lens (Sport version) with the 7D MkII have to do any adjusting with the USB dock?

Talley?

I went out today with Siggy and the 2x TC and could not get it to focus accurately. I had no issues with the Siggy and 2x TC on my 5D MkIII or with the 24-105 on the 7D MkII. But the Siggy/2x TC combo is not playing well with the 7D MkII.

I have the non sport OS model and also found the 5D3 AF played much better with this lens and T-Cons than the 7D2 did.

Talley doesn't own the sport, so he can't adjust with the dock...

on my 70D, the lens backfocuses without any TC, it's ok on my 5D though...and with TC it's fine as well...so i just adjust the lens on my 70D with MFA

I haven't needed longer than the 300 with the 7D2 and don't use TC's much. I really haven't found a TC that works decent even a few of the Sigmas I've tried.

I have put the 1.4 sigma on the 120-300 with the 7D2 for a few shots but didn't notice any focus issues. Yes I have the non sport.

1.4x was fine on the Non sport with all bodies I tested.

I expected 1D4 or 7D2 to be the AF champ, but it was 5D3 that kept things purring @ f/8 with stacked 2X and 1.4x T-Cons.

oh ya... exactly. I've stacked the 2x and 1.4 and the cropper would just freak out. The 5D3 is rock solid.

Thanks for the heads up about the 7d2 and TC's. My Sig TC is sharp and I'd hate to lose that.

I have the non-Sport version and it works fine with the 2xIII and the 7D2, even in pretty poor light. I haven't noticed it being worse than the original 7D. I did find the 5D3 focus was better than the 7D. I haven't had a chance to compare the 5D3 and 7D2 as I have been travelling a lot for work recently. I intend to take both to Florida later in the year, so will get a chance then.

Had a bit of time with the Sig 2x TC today and came across a few of the usual suspects. All photos are uncropped.

These are superb. It is always amazing to see how well this takes the 2X!
Better than some primes.

I'm hoping the issue I had was due to tuning the lens to the 5D MkIII. Once it stops raining here, I'll get out to the football field and calibrate the lens to the 7D MkII using the USB dock. Fingers crossed.

Looks like the 5D MkIII calibration settings were the culprit. I used the dock today to set it back to defaults and now I get nice, sharp images. Need to go find a BIF to test it on, though.

I noticed the lens has several newer firmware versions but it warns that updating will cause it to no longer work with my 2x TC EX DG. Has anyone tried the 2x TC-2001? Is it worth the upgrade?
