I haven't noticed it being worse than the original 7D. I did find the 5D3 focus was better than the 7D. I haven't had a chance to compare the 5D3 and 7D2 as I have been travelling a lot for work recently. I intend to take both to Florida later in the year, so will get a chance then.

Looks like the 5D MkIII calibration settings were the culprit. I used the dock today to set it back to defaults and now I get nice, sharp images. Need to go find a BIF to test it on, though. Mark J.
