Glad to hear things are working better M_Six :)
The new TC isn't cheap. A comparison would be interesting though.
Speaking of TCs, I thought I'd try stacking my 1.4x Kenko and 2x Sigma. (It was raining and I was bored)

This is at 840mm, F8, ISO400, and 1/160. (One off camera flash)

So this is with bare lens and body without any telescope or astro tools used?

I did have the camera and lens combo set up on my zeq25gt mount. I've never owned a telescope. I processed using CS2 and Lightroom 5.7. I kept the ISO to 800 so no dark frames were used. This is a 6min exposure with a 60sec exposure layered on top.

It really is a sharp lens. These are 100% crops from RAW images with the Sig 2x TC
(CR2 opened in faststone cropped and saved as jpeg with no sharpening or processing)

Thanks!

So this "zeq25gt" is an astrophotography tool after all, can you have same this shot with only the body and lens bare without any mount or astro tools?

For astrophotography you would do better to have some sort of mount to counteract the rotation of the Earth. Otherwise you'll end up with star trails. This could be a home-made barn door tracker, motorized equatorial mount, astrotrac, or one of the ultracompact units sold for widefield imaging.

These guys were making a racket this evening (they're still going at it a few hours later). Manually focussed pot shots in near pitch dark, fortunately didn't take too many to get a couple in focus

Thanks, yes I think they are Tawny Frogmouths. It looked like there were 4 juveniles calling an adult, presumably for something to eat

This was a tricky lunch for this egret. Several times it appeared to have swallowed its prey, only for it to reappear. It got its meal in the end. Taken using Canon 2x III.
