Should I expect a price drop for the EF 400mm f4 DO as well?

I'm really keen to buy the DO lens because of the focal length that I'm looking for but at more compact size & constant large aperture.
At the moment the price is killing me. Not that I couldn't afford it, but it would be nice if there is a price drop for the lens.

Are the chances high or should I forget it?

I would expect a price increase in the used lenses...

Once the old model is out of stock, the alternative is the expensive new one or a used one... Used ones will go up... A good example is the 70-200 and the used ones went up about $200 after the new one came out.

400 DO may still be cataloged and be in stock as new. But I was told they went out of production well over a year ago... I shot one once and it was pretty flat, but still pretty light compared to the alternatives...

I would keep it if you have no incentive to spend more money on the 2.8 IS. The lens won't depreciate significantly.
