Dear All,

Hope this first post is directed to the correct forum.

We have a Powershot A80 digital camera.

With it was bundled the "Canon Digital Camera Solutions Disk v14" CD which includes Zoom Browser, PhotoRecord and PhotoStitch amongst other things.

We bought the equipment in April 2004 and initially the CD loaded and installed everything perfectly.

Recently we've had a few PC problems which have necessitated more tha one HD format and Windows(98SE) reinstallation.

On each occasion, obviously, we've had to reinstall the software and each time the process has been completed without a hitch, until-------

----NOW!! This last time Photo Record 2.0 WILL NOT INSTAL. We've gone through the process umpteen time but the result is always the same. Everything installs except PhotoRecord. Absolutely no trace of it on our system.

There is acres of unused space on our HD.

The disk is in pristine condition.

The disk runs fine. The installation process runs fine---same as always. PhotoRecord is selected. Final installation is confirmed. There are no error messages. We've even tried running the PR setup.exe file manually. Nothing happens.

We've spent hours trying to work out why, this time, PR won't instal and several evenings poring over www links but all to no avail. It's driving us nuts! There seems no rhyme or reason for it.

Is there anyone out there who can throw some light on this problem?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards to all,

We've tried installing the software on two other computers. No problem. Everything, including PhotoRecord, installed on both these alternate systems. One had Win 2000 Pro and the other had Win 98SE (!!) installed.

Therefore, there is nothing wrong with the CD. Presumably there must be SOMETHING wrong with our latest incarnation of Win 98SE.

But what can it be??

Ironically, our PC is "working" as well as it ever has, which makes the problem all the more galling.

Any bright ideas?

Graham
