the zoom h4n is recommended by others, but I've listened to the audio from the h4n and am searching for something with some richer tonal qualities and stronger mic gain

Thanks Trey. That is what I was thinking. Can Premiere decipher canon's native movie files? How will audio be handled with that?

-cs5 master collection is what you want it likes all the 7d's files.

In regards to shooting a wedding. drag a tripod it is so hard to keep this thing stable if you are doing movie footage...
Monopods work pretty good to tell you the truth if you dont have the cash to go get any of these http://www.cameratown.com …/DSLR_Cinematography3.cfm (external link)

A really good "price for the package" for what it is IDC U-Boat Commander ($269) then add the follow focus which is 600 ish footage should look top notch..

The Zoom H1 is a great item to add but who is going to drag that thing around? its really meant for shooting far away and grabbing the sound right under your subject.
Not sure how it would work for a group of people. Another thought is are you going to be adding music if you do you might be alright with the onboard sound on the canon.
Maybe look into this diy sound mod A DIY Windsock for your crummy Canon 5D/7D nat mic A DIY Windsock for your crummy Canon 5D/7D nat mic

Don't know if this is still important to you or not.

I have found the website www.fstoppers.com (external link) to be extremely informative on all things video production. One of the best videos I found there was from a group called Stillmotion. Here is a link to their video about how to do audio for video production.

http://vimeo.com/13715848 (external link)

The problem I am finding is that you need a crew of 3 or 4 people to do all of the things that need to be done for a good video final product. One camera operator (two is better if you can run two cameras), one camera assistant, one audio operator, a director.

All of that is tough as a one man band. Doable, but difficult.

Check out Stillmotions videos on vimeo.com about other aspects of video production.

Regards

As to a "rig", I refer once again to the guys at Stillmotion. They have a video where they talk about what they use. Mostly a monopod, sometimes a Steadicam Merlin (external link), plus another device that is a slider. The Steadicam is a wonderful tool, but it takes quite a while to get it setup and then another lengthy period to gain the experience in how to use it.

Try here. http://vimeo.com/15359451 (external link)

stillmotion operates w/ 2-3 people at each event depend of the package. they used to charge $4k min back in 07 but I think it has doubled since then.

There was one shoot w/ Casey from MindCastle, best highlight they have, might have been shot w/ 4 ppl.

Y'all guys must remember, what they show you are the highlight not the full feature video.
