Seems like is available via eBay this new transmitter.
It cost 150$ at Yongnuo official store(ebay).

It is available some tables that compare this product to the canon version.

I thought it would be available for less :(

@ $150 I'm not all that impressed. i'm sure its a great unit, but its still got the line of sight/visible light limitations of the original.

that's weird. IIRC, they said it would be $90. perhaps they're trying to recoup some costs from the first wave of buyers. at this price only people looking to buy a brand new canon ST-E2 would get this. for $150 you can buy a used canon unit.

James at Yongno had mention in an email to me that they should be coming on the market at the 90.00 price point, not so I saw last week and on top of that, it can't control their onn 487 and newer 468s flashes in wireless ETTL.

I've decided to just learn Manual OCF, using their RT triggers and use my flash meter for studio type shooting and the 468 in ETTL on a flash bracket for fast stuff, could still use other flashes as slaves for fill.

Was really hoping this unit would control their own flashes in OC ETTL )+:

Yes. The YongNuo ST-E2 has been released by some resellers online already! The cheapest I can find currently is US$139.99 from Ebay. I tried to locate that seller's own website and that's even cheaper than his eBay...

Regarding the TR-332, my friend bought one at around US$145 on ebay a week ago. He tried that on his 5DII and a Nissin Di866 flash. It can HSS to 1/8000 even on his Di866 but sorry...no rear curtain...I think even Canon's ST-E2 and 580EXII as master cannot make rear curtain possible...Read this if you have time.Canon STE2 vs. 580EX Master (external link)</a>

I just find a cheaper Pixel TR-332 from that guy who's selling the cheapest YongNuo ST-E2 (cannot locate this TR-332 from this seller on Ebay at the moment) but I am not sure which unit should I go for? Both have their Pros and Cons...Any Suggestion?

Almost forget...the websites:

Having not used either I cant comment of the features or value but I would point out the major issues. If you get the St-e2 equivalent you do not require a reciever for each flash making in infinitely expandable. The Tr-332 is radio rather than visible/infrared but you will need a receiver for each flash pushing the total cost up considerably if you are planning a 2 or 3 light setup.

If it lives up to the spec, I think it's a bargain. Much more range than the Canon version, you can rotate and direct the head for even more range, and half the price.

Edit: I forgot to mention that it uses AA batteries - big plus. See Erik's post #11.

I'm waiting for Canon to build radio-ETTL directly into their guns. It's got to happen, but I could be waiting a while I guess ;)

I agree, I'm hoping this will be a feature of the new speedlights. I love the wireless flash controls built into the 7D, my only issue so far has been the range.

I had an ST-E2 and liked it... the aftermarket one is better in a few ways, according to the company

Further range
Accessible via in-camera menu
rotatable
AAs instead of "camera battery" that is hard to find and somewhat expensive
more/easier buttons
Group C

They don't specify the refresh rate... the ST-E2 could hardly keep up with 5 FPS on a fresh battery - I guess it's not terribly important, though.

If it really does go to $90, I will buy it immediately.

The fact that you can control a Group "C" from it, makes it worth it.

When a camera can support it via menu which my 40D does...

$70-90 shipped would be great, otherwise I'll just pony up and buy an ST-E2.

Just got my Yongnuo ST-e2... It is working ok... BUT!!! I wanted this thing only cause of AF assist... And AF assist beam on this thing is BAD!!! My 5D just dosnt want to focus... On original canon st-e2 is working just like with a flash on camera... fast and acurate... Cause original thing has 2 beams... This chinese one has only one , and its a laser beam splited in 4 line with weak power... Tottaly dispapointed... I will just go for original st-e2
My advise... If u need it for AF assist , get the original ;)
