I'm in need of a new printer, I use to have several Canon and Epsons model now they are giving me aging signals so its time to get me a new one before they die. I'm looking for one where I can print bigger than the standard 8.5 x 11 paper, not sure which is the next size, 11x17 maybe? I would like one with great performance and quality, I'll be printing some pics of my fam for walls. This but keeping price near or under $400.00 Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Alex

I've been considering the same thing, and posted to the forum recently. I've narrowed it down to the Canon 9000 or Epson 1400. Someone advised me to check Craigslist for the Canon - Canon has been having a promotion and was giving a great deal on the 9000 with the purchase of some cameras. I saw some as low as $175, but they were gone by the time I got there. Someone else also posted a question on Refurbished Printers (see thread of the same name) where Epson was selling a refurbished 1400 for around $150. There are some pretty good arguments in that thread about why to buy a refurbished printer. Good luck

Colin

I am not sure what your needs really are. I was looking for a printer recently, but given the price of ink, I decided to put it off and see how printing services work.. That was over a year ago and I still have not spent as much as I would on one complete set of refill tanks.

I use mpix for quality, Wallgreens when my kids want some snapshots for their albums.
This has worked well for me.. clearly not a solution for everyone. But, 2 years ago, I could not have imagined going this route.
