Well some of the time. Its a tool and can be used in tight places. Like shots inside a car. From the show last night the DP says the inside of the ship was all shot with the 5DMII.

This just cannot be. The guys at RED say these are trash and that Canon should be ashamed of themselves. Perhaps someone should tell CBS this.

The guys at RED are running scared because they can't get the Scarlet out and potential customers have gone to the 5D mk II.

Sorry to hear guys. I guess their commercial would not make sense outside the USA. Basically they talk to the DP and he discusses the use of the usual huge cameras, the Sony EX1 and the 5D (They done even refer to it as 5DMII). Its done at the beach during a shooting break and of course show scenes are sprinkled in. At one point there is a fly over shot of a US battleship and that's when he talks about how 4 days of shooting inside the battleship was done solely with the 5DMII. He also uses it for tight car shots, which means they do not have to take time to remove windows or otherwise prep cars for the shot.

Man I would be hunting for them. They where just north of Waikiki on the beach. But I didn't recognize the surf scene. I imagine they will shot on that island as the cast members are moving to Oahu, Hawaii. Maybe you might see them on the streets of Waikiki.

Nice. The 5DM2 has been used and showing up on quite a few movie-making sequences!

It's still very limited. It doesn't have manual controls or audio levels. Still far from really being useful. Sony VG-10 might be of more use. They just haven't found it.

There are hacked firmware that are more geared towards movie people. Check Wikipedia page.

I doubt that audio levels makes a squat of difference since a movie or TV show would likely be doing external audio anyway.

It has both manual controls and audio levels.
