With the grid priced at $399 and the required stretch frame at $109, there's no denying that this is a very expensive solution. It's also the ONLY solution if you need/want a grid for your Elinchrom DO.

Dave F.

That's by far the best way to offer very expensive solutions :-)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Nice shots of the grid, Dave. Too rich for my blood, but the craftsmanship looks impeccable.

reminds me of the scene from wayne's world when he's looking at the excalibur (guitar he lusts after) and says: "I will have you. Oh yes....you will be mine."

Lol. I know which part that is and yes, I've gawked at this grid the same way. I wish I owned the DO first, though.

Ignoring the function to focus purely on the form, the new Ranger 'Zoom' has got to be the most FUGLY looking head I've ever seen.

LOL. I just saw it. Damn, it's ugly. I can't believe they're replacing the current one with that.

Now that I've seen it, I hope it is just for the Ranger heads and not the RX monolights.

The ugliness is quite disturbing.... lolol

I hope it's neither and it's just a prototype! LOL. Disturbing is spot on. It looks like a Fisher Price tug boat. No doubt it will perform and many will argue that function will quell the aesthetic mishap, but surely it can't hurt if your gear looked good too.

I don't care what it looks like, what upsets me is the handle. It sticks out so much, fitting it into Pelicans may be more difficult than it needs to be.

Well that's part of the ugliness. LOL. I wish they made it look more like a BXRi/RX or the Quadra. I don't know why they decided to get creative all of a sudden and of all things came up with that design --a tote purse that looks like a tug boat.

agreed....and how crucial are the handles? Answer: not.

It's not as if my assistant ever holds the damn light by the handle....isn't that what lightsands and lightpoles are for?! Make a more robust handle for carrying it from pelican/bag to light modifier?! silly.
