I agree the Title Fairy will never touch me either!

Too hot to touch!

just to give you hint of what is to come with that attitude my previous title was "used to being ignored by the TF" Then for some strange reason the most glorious of Title Fairy's decided to grace my with my own suggestion for a great title.

Alex - yeah, that one. i was always a big fan of Rear Window and i think it's a great interpretation of it. The thing the movie really has going for it is the element of timing, placement and psychological fear. all the things Alfred always used.

i LOVE getting scared lol i've seen most horror movies. i'd have to say the all time psychological thrillers for me were The Descent and The Blair Witch Project. I know everyone says it's super lame but i was in a situation like that once so it kind of affects me differently.

I agree it was horrible. Although i did like paranormal activity. Too many movies now rely on gore. It was good to see some suspense.

I liked the end of The Descent. Alex, you should see it too, I have it on Bluray if you want to borrow.

I never saw the Hitchcock version so maybe that's why I didn't like it as much?

I did not enjoy Blair Witch. It was not scary one bit and was sort of a snooze fest. Although, my sister did go throw up in the bathroom (we saw it in theatres), but that was due to the shaky-cam rather than anything in the movie.

So I just called a local camera store to ask how much it would be to calibrate my lens and he goes well we have to send it to canon and then they give us a quote and i was like okay well ballpark it for me and he's like which lens and i said my 18-55 kit lens and he's like well why would you want it calibrated and i was like because it's front focusing and all my pictures are really soft. i can't even use that lens anymore. so then he goes well that lens isn't even worth 200 so you're wasting your money because shipping is 40 bucks alone and then labour is 70 an hour. and i was like so what am i supposed to do, take a $200 loss? it's just over a year old. just out of the warranty. and he was like yeah i guess. So that only leaves me with my 55-250 zoom.

super annoyed. probably more annoyed because i have emotional attachment to that lens which i dont want to share. but yeah.

what should i do guys?

Call Canon directly and see if you can send it into the closest service center. For out of warranty calibration, it should be a flat rate. Are you in the US?

I also dislike horror movies based purely on gore and sadistic violence (the "torture porn" genre -- can I use this term here?) that are rampant nowadays. Horror based on fear, suspense, and the unknown is often more effective and terrifying.

I understand, if you've been in a similar situation it feels a lot more real and frightening to you. :(

We should go ghost hunting some time. I don't think they'll come out when I'm there, though, lol.

simple, put your lens on craigslist and buy another one with IS used

it's cheaper than calibrating, and with your new purchase make sure it focuses properly

i'll find a cool link for you to read brb

nope. canada. i got a number of a guy in my city who does out of warranty repairs on canons. left him a message. i just can't really bear with the thought of not being able to use that lens anymore. it's important to me cause of personal reasons.

the first guy i called was such a jerk. i ended up hanging up on him. he kind of had that "you're a woman and you're stupid" attitude.

as i said, i'm not selling it. i'll never sell my first camera or my first two lenses. again, i dont feel like sharing why. but that's how it is.
