Call Canon directly and see if you can send it into the closest service center. For out of warranty calibration, it should be a flat rate. Are you in the US?

She's in Canada.

I also dislike horror movies based purely on gore and sadistic violence (the "torture porn" genre -- can I use this term here?) that are rampant nowadays. Horror based on fear, suspense, and the unknown is often more effective and terrifying.

I understand, if you've been in a similar situation it feels a lot more real and frightening to you. :(

We should go ghost hunting some time. I don't think they'll come out when I'm there, though, lol.

i agree with you 100%. and yeah, both of those movies are about being lost in the wilderness. something i can relate to.

I WANT TO COME GHOST HUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nope. canada. i got a number of a guy in my city who does out of warranty repairs on canons. left him a message. i just can't really bear with the thought of not being able to use that lens anymore. it's important to me cause of personal reasons.

the first guy i called was such a jerk. i ended up hanging up on him. he kind of had that "you're a woman and you're stupid" attitude.

as i said, i'm not selling it. i'll never sell my first camera or my first two lenses. again, i dont feel like sharing why. but that's how it is.

well then since your married to it

you will have to send it to canon, which just happens to be near me, mississauga ontario :p

and last time i took a lens there, they are 2-3 weeks turn around since they do all of canada

3 days of shipping each way, you should have it back by the time

snow flies and be about the same cost as another lens, just sayin :)

POTN Ghost Hunt! Put our cameras through the ultimate low-light test, hahaha.

We gotta make sure our sensors, viewfinders, and lens front element are clean, or we'll find a bunch of mysterious floating orbs in our photos! It always cracks me up when people find "evidence" of ghosts and UFO's that are just dirt spots on their sensors, etc....:lol:

Are there no other Canon regional offices/service centers in Canada than in Mississauga? That is somewhat inconvenient, one service center for the entire country.

I'm lucky to be 5 minutes away from a Canon center! But I'm bummed that sensor cleaning is no longer free. They charge $30 now. :(

CDN$40? I hope it's not up to USD$40 here too!

Pretty clever, there! Like a little side business. :)

Why, Scott will buy you a new camera, of course! He's obligated to. However, that means you are getting converted to the Dark Side, guaranteed.:lol:

Nice!!! I might have to use your D700 as well ;) (Spice up the conspiracy!)

Your picking it up from B&H?

I plan on picking one up from a nikon user in queens with a MB-D10 grip. I hope it comes before I foolishly spend the money on something else...

..like pies.....

QUOTED IMAGE

I don't know about this one, could be true or fabricated, could be any normal object confused for something else.

What I meant was photos in which it's obvious it's a dirt spot on the sensor, or flare, etc. and it's not even debatable, but the person who took the photo has no clue what flare is, or that his sensor can get dirty (let alone that there is a sensor in his camera...), so he proclaims, "OMG! A ghost!". I'd post an example, but I'm at work. Don't want to go dig for one. :)
